Let’s have an honest conversation here: holiday pajamas aren’t for everyone. While I personally would be willing to wear a full gingerbread onesie in the name of yuletide merriment, not everyone would, and that’s okay.

But sometimes, especially right now when we’re only a month away from Hanukkah and Christmas, you find yourself in a situation where you need to throw on a pair of festive jammies. Whether that’s because of a holiday party, an age-old tradition, or your mother insisting that ‘this year we’ll all finally get a nice photo together‘ it can’t always be avoided. Luckily, there are options on the market that are both festive and fashionable, so you can have your fruitcake (ew?), and eat it too.

At a Glance: The Best Holiday Pajamas of 2024

Musician and mom-loved brands like Cozy Earth, Old Navy, and Eberjey have heard your cries, and are now making seasonal-appropriate pajamas that not only work for the holidays but that you can wear all year round too. They typically come in lightweight, breathable fabrics, so you won’t overheat, feature a subtle holiday-themed print that isn’t overwhelming, and are available in both men’s and women’s styles—what more could you ask for? To help you narrow down the search, our team compiled a list of the best twelve holiday pajama options that won’t make you look like you reside at the North Pole. Shop them below before they sell out.

Comfiest choice

When it comes to Cozy Earth, the name doesn’t lie. Whether it’s their signature duvet cover and sheet set, plush robes, cuddle blankets, or hoodies and joggers, they create some of the comfiest products you will ever own. These holiday pjs are no exception. Made with breathable, stretch-knit, they help wick away sweat while you sleep and will keep you cool. Take it from someone who is a very hot sleeper, they actually work. Typically, I would wake up around 3 a.m. in a puddle, but when I have these pajamas on, I stay at the perfect temperature all night long. And while you may have slight sticker shock when you first see the price (lucky for you, they’re currently on sale), these festive pajamas are worth every penny.

classic set

Ring in the holiday season with these navy gingham pajamas from Petite Plume. The Chicago-based brand makes chic sets for the entire family and crafts its products with 100% quality cotton. Featuring pearl buttons, classic piping, and an adjustable drawstring, every night will feel like you’re living in the lap of luxury with these bad boys on. I bought these pajamas for my husband last Christmas, and they’re still the most worn pjs in his rotation (and this is coming from a guy who normally hates pajamas). The best part? Although they’re perfect for the holiday season, the gingham print and breathable fabric make them versatile enough to wear throughout the year, so they’re truly an investment deserving of your hard-earned cash.

chicest choice

If you can’t tell by now, I’m somewhat of a pajama connoisseur (okay fine, it’s an obsession leave me alone), and PJ Salvage happens to be one of my favorite brands. And I’m not the only one. The company also has a massive celebrity following including the Princess of Pop herself, Britney Spears. Not only are their products made with incredibly soft materials and give you the perfect loose, but not too loose fit, they’re also some of the most fashion-forward options on the market. Take this bow set, for example. The repeating pink pattern gives you just the right amount of holiday cheer, without having it look like you’re about to hop down the chimney in search of milk and cookies. Plus, the cotton and flannel fabric keep you warm all winter long, without making you feel suffocated.

Affordable pick

These long-sleeve pajamas by Fruit of the Loom are the perfect affordable option for the holiday season. Available in four variations of plaid, they have a comfortable, baggy fit, adjustable waistband (for when you inevitably drink too much eggnog), and feature two convenient side pockets for those winter days when you want to wear them as loungewear. We especially like this option because they’re a no-frills set of pajamas: you know what you’re going to get, and can wear them year after year because frankly, red plaid never goes out of style.

softest feel

I bought my first set of Pajamagram pjs back in 2018, and have never looked back. The brand somehow manages to make their products feel buttery-soft (and they stay this way after every wash), without having the material stick to your skin —and trust me, this isn’t always easy to do. Although they have hundreds of fun prints to choose from on their site (their wine-themed ones are a best-seller and my personal favorite), this red polka-dot option is the ideal choice for the holiday season. Plus, any product from Pajamagram makes the perfect gift, because the company has a love-it guarantee: you have the option to receive a full refund up to 60 days after your purchase if you aren’t satisfied.

Traditional CHoice

This wouldn’t be a list of the best holiday pajamas without the inclusion of L.L. Bean. Maybe it’s because I grew up in New England, but when it comes to comfortable loungewear that will actually keep you warm, L.L. Bean is the obvious choice. Made with 100% cotton, these green flannel pajamas are about as classic as you can get but still look modern and stylish. They have just the right amount of stretch, won’t pill, and are cut at the perfect length. Our favorite part though, is the fact that they will always retain their color and shape throughout every wash and dry cycle.

one and done

Say what you want about the Kardashians, but when it comes to the SKIMS brand, Miss Kim K. certainly knows what she’s doing. Not only do their bodysuits, shapewear, and dresses make you look and feel snatched, but so do their pajamas. And I know what you’re thinking: henley jumpsuits can typically be unflattering due to the lack of stretch in the fabric, but not this one. Who knows if it’s due to a little bit of holiday magic, but this one actually looks great on. If you need further proof of the quality of SKIMS, chart-topping rapper Cardi B swears by their products and even appeared in her first-ever campaign for the brand just last year. Wear this jumpsuit for your holiday card, lounging at home with a cup of cocoa, hell, even wear it under a snowboarding or ski outfit for the perfect snow bunny fit.

Throwback Jammies

Old Navy has been the leader of holiday-themed apparel for as long as I can remember—and I’m not just referring to the December holidays, if you’ve ever been to a Fourth of July barbecue, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Even after all of these years, the brand still makes some pretty great festive jammies. This men’s printed pajama set has a repeating snowflake pattern, (which adds just the right amount of cheer without it being too in your face), has a drawstring waist, and is available in both women’s and children’s options. Sold at $26.99, it’s the steal of the season.

a love story

While these aren’t technically holiday-themed pajamas (although I don’t think we’re too far off from there being a National Taylor Swift Day), these Anti-Hero-inspired pjs make the perfect gift. Featuring lyrics from the Grammy-nominated song, they’re made of a cotton and polyester blend, feel soft to the touch, and have an adjustable waistband. Give them to your favorite Swiftie this year for a present that will exceed their “Wildest Dreams.”

Hot new collab

In collaboration with The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, comfy clothing-brand Alex Mill just released a line of fun, seasonal-themed pajamas. These pjs are perfect for cozy nights lounging by the fire, or for hanging out and listening to Fallon’s newly-released album, “Holiday Seasoning.” This drop features both men’s and women’s styles, just don’t forget to add the matching pants to this flannel shirt before you check out.

Alternative option

While holiday night gowns can sometimes make you look like Ebenezer Scrooge, you don’t have to worry about that with this green pinstripe option from Auden. Soft, lightweight, and stylish, it’s made of jersey fabric which is known for its comfort and stretchiness. Pair it with your favorite fuzzy socks for a cute winter look, or with a grey top hat and candlestick if I was wrong and you do want to go for a Charles Dicken’s-type vibe.

Luxury essential

Founded in 1996, Eberjey is known for their luxury women’s pajamas, but recently, the brand expanded into menswear—and we thank them for that. While this may not be the most budget-friendly option out there, you get what you pay for when it comes to the William Printed Pajama Set. Just ask the likes of everyone’s favorite couple Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, who were seen rocking a matching set of Eberjey pjs earlier this year.

Whether it’s the soft-to-the-touch Tencel fabric, the fly detail, or the flattering fit, these pajamas are made for the man who won’t settle for the scratchy fabrics of holidays past. Plus, the blue star pattern is available in women’s and kid’s long sleeve pajama sets, so the whole family can match.

How We Chose the Best Holiday Pajamas of 2024

When deciding which pajamas were going to make the cut for this list, we kept a few key things in mind. The first was print and pattern. Not only are these two components what make holiday pajamas, holiday pajamas, but they also can be the make or break between a cheesy mess and ones that you will be excited to wear again. I don’t know about you, but I typically don’t like to wear the face of a 1,000+-year-old man on my PJs (sorry, Santa). This is why we chose patterns that were subtle, but still seasonal, and came in colorways of greens, blues, and reds. The next was feel. You’ll notice a lot of the options on this list are either made of cotton or jersey fabric, which is equal parts soft and comfortable. Finally, we took into consideration details like the cut of the pajamas, whether they were available in both men’s and women’s styles, and price—which is why you will find both affordable and luxury options above.
