Drew Barrymore found herself in a sticky situation on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show — literally.
The actress welcomed celebrity chef Jordan Andino and Top Chef judge Gail Simmons to the Drew’s News desk, where they tried out the latest viral cooking trend: a bacon, egg and cheese that substitutes toast and bagels for chocolate chip cookies.
“I think people really want things to work and I think this is just one of those things where someone’s like, ‘Oh, let’s just have fun,’” Andino said as the two women dug into their snacks.
But after Barrymore took her first bite, chocolate exploded all over her face.
“What the hell is happening to my face?!” she exclaimed as chocolate slowly dripped from her mouth to her chin. “By the way, I just wiped it and I feel like that made it worse.”
While things weren’t as messy for Simmons, she still wasn’t a fan of the trend.
“It’s the chocolate that’s not working for me for a lot of reasons. But I actually think there’s something to this,” she said. “In Canada, where Jordan and I are both from as luck would have it, we have something called the lumberjack sandwich, which is sort of the same thing but instead of the chocolate chip cookies, it’s two pancakes. And then you drizzle the maple syrup over.”
“It is everything in breakfast without needing a bath,” she joked. “And that’s the way I think we need to do it.”
Once Simmons wrapped up her take, Andino offered to help Barrymore scrub the remaining chocolate off of her chin.
“This is unbelievable. Jordan, I had to hand him a wet towel. It’s everywhere,” Barrymore complained, before adding, “This is a no for me, by the way.”
